Ice Fishing A Family Activity

With today’s economy everyone is looking for better ways to provide family entertainment, ice fishing is filling this need for many. Ice fishing has gained in popularity very rapidly. It is a sport that can provide a full day of activity for the whole family.

This allows families to become more involved as a group again. Fish generally bite best early in the morning and late afternoon, leaving the hours in-between for family fun in the snow and on the ice. Pack a good lunch because the clean crisp air and activities build appetites.

Lots of finger food and snacks along with plenty of water are recommended. Stay warm by dressing in many layers under a windbreaker of some form, as this will hold body heat and keep you warm. A good hat and waterproof gloves are needed.

Some other items not to be forgotten are boots, sun block and sunglasses because the glare off the snow and ice can be rough on the eyes.

While on the ice be environmentally conscious, do not litter and remember to be respectful of the other families around, do not blast them with your radio. Be gentle with the fish caught keep what you will eat and release the rest. Take your family on an ice fishing outing soon and spend some quality time together.
